The last time we ever do it

How long ago was the last time you did something you considered truly important and you were fully present?

Tonight, I had the opportunity to dedicate my time and full attention to one of the most important people in my life: my daughter.

It had been far too long since we last sat down and shared dinner together. And I realised, in that simple moment, how much I had missed it.

I could easily write about the importance of honouring the time we spend with the people we love. You already know that message. We’ve all heard it before.

What feels more important to reflect on is something else:

How do we know when something is going to be the last time we ever do it?

At some point in your life, things changed. You stopped dancing.

Stopped skipping the rope.

Stopped eating a certain food or recipe.

Stopped going to certain places.

Stopped meeting certain people.

Sometimes those changes are positive. Necessary, even.

And still, they mean that—without noticing—you did something for the last time.

If it was meaningful, you likely told yourself: “I’ll do it again.”

“I’ll make time.”

“I’ll get back to it.”

And then… time kept moving.

This is an invitation to become more aware of how you invest the quality of your time and focus.

Because one day, that could be the last chance to hug someone.

To kiss them.

To play.

To dedicate your energy to something or someone you love.

If that moment is happening now, be there fully.

Our attention is constantly being pulled in different directions, and we deeply underestimate how much power and presence that costs us.

I’m not expecting anything dramatic to happen. I’m simply aware that life evolves, people change, and events unfold.

So here is my invitation to you:

Be present to make your life work FOR you—and THROUGH you.
